Caregiver Connection and Support Program
As a caregiver, we rely on the support of other caregivers to:
- help us learn how to navigate a complex system,
- share our stories, and
- discuss our challenges
Caregiving is a lifelong journey that no one understands unless they have experienced it. This program offers education, support and socialization for caregivers who are caring for a loved one with a disability.
There is a focus on those caring for a loved one with a developmental disability, but all are welcome.
We hope you will consider joining us.
DAWNcil is pleased to announce that it can provide financial assistance to any individuals with disabilities residing in the Morris/Sussex/Warren counties that have encountered financial issues as a result of the pandemic. There is an application process for accessing these funds. Click here for a brochure which details the type of assistance available and the process for applying as well as the required application form. If you know of someone that is in need, please share this information. DAWNcil also will be setting up a pantry with some basic necessities in the Denville office for distribution to our consumers. If someone is in need of non-perishables, PPE’s, etc., let us know and we will try and assist. (Be mindful that there is a shortage of disinfectant supplies and while we are trying to get them, we do not have a large supply at this time.)

We provide a wide range of services for people with disabilities in the areas of advocacy, information and referral, peer support, and independent living skills training. We offer employment services, life skills training classes, and recreational activities for adults, youth and young adults. DAWN also provides services like support coordination and care management under a number of state programs. DAWN’s comprehensive services are a critical part of the support network that enables people with disabilities residing in Morris, Sussex, and Warren counties to live independently in their communities.
DAWN is one of 12 Centers for Independent Living (CILs) in New Jersey, and one of nearly 500 CILs nationwide. All of DAWN’s programs and services embody the principles of the Independent Living philosophy, which asserts that people with disabilities should have the same civil rights, choices, and control as do people without disabilities. DAWN currently serves over 3,000 individuals and families in Morris, Sussex, and Warren counties. Services are funded through state and federal grants, membership contributions, donations, fundraising, and a host of agencies and foundations that have partnered with DAWN to realize equal opportunities and inclusion for people with disabilities. If you are interested in learning more about DAWN, our services, or Independent Living in general, please contact us.
